Printer Driver for RICOH Aficio - only PostScript?

I tried your method for a Nashuatec MP C2800 network printer (Yosemite). It prints regular text just fine, but the coloured images are printed with a surrounding black blur. Do you have any recommendation for this issue?

I'm running 10.9.5 (Mavericks) and I have a Ricoh Aficio MP C2800 photocopier/printer. So I downloaded the three files:

Foomatic 4.0.6

Ghostscript 8.7.1

Ricoh-Aficio_MP_C2800-pxlcolor-Ricoh.ppd

I installed the first two and saved all the files including the driver in a folder within applications. I plugged in the printer via usb (I figured I'd make the networking work later) and found the printer easily. I selected the above ppd driver from the folder I'd saved it to. It let me customise some features - extra paper trays/finishers etc. So good so far.

When I tried to print a test page, it just gets stuck sending the data. I can see the test print in the print queue. It says 'Printing - sending data to printer.' And that's as far as I get.

Can anyone give me some pointers please??

I'm happily printing following the instructions @bergonzzi simplified on 10.10.5 Yosemite. Before I upgrade to El Capitan I wanted to ask if this work-around was still functional.

If there's anyone round who could help with my query - I'd really appreciate it. Otherwise I need to buy a new photocopier 😟

It seems the pxlmono/pxlcolor drivers are not working in El Capitan ?

Yeah but Gutenprint black and white printing still works though 😕

How did you get it set up?

Use the gutenprint generic PCL6 driver or just the default generic PCL driver already included in the add printer / IP section. You can print in black and white, no colors.

Has anyone found of a way to get color printing working again under El Capitan? Ricoh discontinued the Postscript add on for our multifunction printer so I can't use their native drivers for El Cap. Everything still works great under Yosemite.

I know this is an old thread but I was able to get color printing for the Ricoh MP C4501 and MP C4502 printers working under El Capitan using a Generic PCL/PXL PXLcolor driver.
