This Device Does Not Have The Necessary Services

I have the same problem. I tried the bluetooth setup and I am getting the same error. Im just trying to hook my imac up to my ipad2. It will find the device, but when I try to browse or send file (POW!) there go the error This Device Does Not Have The Necessary Services. Me and the guy above me (David Ross) need you guys help

i dont think you actually have to pair the the device to actually transfer files.

try to just start up BT file sharing.

having trouble pairing my AURA BT-100 Handsfree, living in the illusion that i maybe could have used it as a audio device. getting the same error message and it does not appear in the BT device setup.

i think my device is lacking the bt ftp service and therefore is not useable for my purposes.

I simply needed to go into System Prefernces under Sharing and turn on Bluetooth File Sharing. Problem went away.

on the mac air i went to preference- sharing- turned bluetooth sharing on and that worked for me

I have the same issue. A new ipad and older iMac.

I can connect with no problems but when I try to browse the ipad from the iMac the ipad shows the imac as not connected and I get the "device does not have the necessary services" message.

I've already tried all the "solutions" here with no luck.

I can't even browse the device let alone transfer files.

Any further ideas?

Thanks. So how can I transfer files? Connecting a USB cable doesn't work as the Mac doesn't seem to recognise it's connected?

OK, after stumbling around for 2 hours I found a way of moving my pdfs at least.

Set sharing permissions on the iMac.

Download Adobe Reader on the ipad.

Connect via USB

Start iTunes (the ipad should now be visible)

Click "apps" in the toolbar and scroll down to "File Sharing"

Select Adobe and you'll get an option to "add files"

Select "add" and simply browse and select the files you want to add

To see the files on the ipad open Adobe Reader and all the files should be there.

How you send them the other way is something else I need to work out.

I'm trying to connect my macbook pro to my iphone 5S via bluetooth.the bluetooth can find my iphone but it's unable to get connected to it.ot says the device does not have the necessary services.I read your postes and I don't see set up a new device on my dropdown menu.please help me.

I have the same problem. I paired the iPhone again, but when I try to browse it again, the Bluetooth app still it says the device "does not have the necessary services". Nothing like not naming the device, or which "services" it doesn't have.

One of these days Apple may actually try using these objects themselves to see the hours of time they waste.

Easiest solution, forget the slow, bug-laden and practically useless Bluetooth and use email to send the images.

I called Apple Support and was told by the Advisor AND his boss that Bluetooth is ONLY there for accessories NOT for file transfers. They were incorrect. Today, after changing my Bluetooth Preferences on my new MacBook Pro, I was successfully able to transfer photos from my old 2007 MacBook, old Nokia 3720 and my BlackBerry phone. Yes, the message does come up to say "Network Unavailable" but I tried by right clicking (using mouse) or ctrl right click on mousepad, on a document/photo (or you can select several) in a folder and you'll see options... go down to bottom of options where you'll see "Send File To Bluetooth Device". The device may show as "Disconnected" but click on it anyway and it should work. Hey Presto (as long as you have connected the devices up already of course). I also haven't yet had success transferring to my Lenovo PC laptop. Also, I haven't yet sussed out what to do, however, to successfully Browse a device like I can from my old Mac.

What I'm trying to do is, just AirDrop few photos from iMac to iPhone, and i keep having this message, and airdrop cannot find my iPhone. It does not want to pair up with my mac at all. I'm am running iOS X Mavericks and an older iphone update, but it should still work no?
