Macbook Pro Retina Display lagging when typing

Hi

I occasionally have a problem with my new Macbook Pro Retina Display. Sometimes when i am typing in forms such as this discussion forum or the address bar for URLs, the words do not show up. The page seems to freeze up or lag. Sometimes, i will see the mouse cursor spinning.

This is very frustrating as there is nothing that can be done. Sometimes refreshing the page will help but generally nothing seems to work. It just seems to freeze up and lag. When i type some words it might see a delay when the letters show up or when im deleting letters it just seems to lag behind and is not being deleted right away.

Luckily i am able to get through typing this report.

Hope someone can help me or share their experiences. I am well within my warranty coverage so i am not worried about that...but i am worried that i can't reproduce the problem when i am at the Apple store.

Thanks in advance.

I don't think so - did nothing at all for me.

I was hoping that Mavericks would fix this problem, but nope. 😟

Seems the only "fix" is still to disable automatic graphics switching in the Energy Saver prefs, and set the Display prefs to "scaled" (best for Retina seems ok now - was having to use the "looks like 1680X1050" in ML).

You'd think Apple would be making a real effort to fix this...somehow.

Guys, don't search anymore how to solve this! It is a software related problem, there is a bug in the resolutions, but I found a way to solve it!

I searched days on the internet and I found an app that is like display mode but it is free. You can set the resolution on the 13" inch way up to 2560x1600 but the text will be too small. I have set my resolution to 1650x1050. There is no lag and the screen is big enough even when you have to edit movies or photos like I do! This app made my day. I have searched so long to solve this UI lag problem. Hope this works for everyone!

Have a nice day guys!

Mavericks has a new way of managing memory that includes compressing the memory used by inactive applications. My iMac has 32GB of memory. I don't think it is possible to run out of memory when I'm just running Safari and Mail. More likely, it is a bug in the memory management routine, which, combined with the way an application is written, displays this error message.

Sometimes an HTML validator will flag error A on line 152, but there's no error at that location. It turns out that the parser sailed right through error B on line 54, and the code made sense to the parser until line 152. Anyone who validates HTML code deals with that frustration. That's what I think is going on here. It might not be an application memory error at all. It could be something earlier in the code that manifests itself at the point where the code displays this error message.

I might have a solution for the lag problem.

So I've had this problem with my Macbook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015) OS X El Capitan, the lag was just horrific, switching fullscreens was a nightmare and everything just seemed to lag lag and then lag some more, I've tried tons of solutions suggested by many forums, from reseting the PRAM and SMC to trying to change the display's resolution and even tried to erase and reinstall the OS but unfortunately none worked, I've literally spent weeks trying to figure out a solution, until I started noticing that the lag was the worst during daytime and that it was an intermittent lag, and one day I was sick of how much automatically adjusted brightness was annoying so I just turned it off and to my surprise the lag immediately stopped, it turns out that that feature was the culprit and the lag appeared only when the screen brightness was changing automatically and now my Macbook works like a charm, so here's what you can do:

Go to System preferences - Displays, and uncheck "Automatically adjusted brightness" in the "Display" tab.

I hope this works for you as well.
