Here is my entire history of this problem and whats been done. 2am Thursday morning 8/9 the brighthouse/roadrunner pop-server.tampabay.rr.com stopped allowing connections from iphones on the ATT wireless network. On Friday 8/10 at 10pm the problem was corrected and the fix lasted thru the weekend and it went down again on Monday morning 8/13 and has not been fixed for days now and it is now Thursday evening.
I have spent hours on the phone with worthless technical support for roadrunner in Manilla and received numerous emails saying so sorry you cant use your web browser and other ridiculous statements. Needless to say the support is terrible. AT&T semi-proved the problem to be the tampa roadrunner pop server in their store when I visited by testing with me to other Roadrunner servers in other states, Gmail, and Verizon mail accounts. All of which worked fine. You can connect to virtually any pop server out there except the tampabay roadrunner pop server. So what does that tell you?
I believe after many hours speaking to idiots who support roadrunner on the national help desk in Manilla that the problem is the roadrunner/brighthouse server that serves tampa bay.
Roadrunner support claims it is AT&T problems yet Roadrunner called me Friday night when the fix was done the first time and told me Roadrunner fixed the problem and indeed it was fixed for a few days.
Apple cannot help because it isnt an Apple issue. I can confirm that my 3G Ipad does connect to the tampa roadrunner pop server without an issue as someone else also confirmed. Also you can connect to the tampa pop server via any wifi, but not via the ATT cell netwrork.
One can only hope that if Time Warner or Roadrunner or Bright House is reading this that they realize the terrible press they will be getting when the Republican convention is in Tampa next week if this isnt fixed. Realize also that Bright House is repsonsible for communication services during the convention and ATT is the wireless provider for it. Someone is going to be getting some great press if something isnt done pronto. I suggest anyone reading this write the President's contact address on Roadrunner, Bright House Tampa, and possibly AT&T. Tell them it's been 4 days and no one is addressing the issue which based on what I have seen is a roadrunner/brighthouse server problem not accepting authentication requests from ATT cellular data on the ATT4G/HSPA part of the network. Funny the problem was fixed for 2 days and no one has a clue what was done or had access to the history to refer to it and see why it is down again. Perhaps another server upgrade was done and the new update reverted back to the prior settings that were causing failures. Whatever the case the service and support has been nothing any human being should have to endure.
