Brand new installation of OS X Mountain Lion keeps showing me the spinning wheel

Little Snitch indicated that is't up-to-date (version 3.0 Preview 2 (3857). I got it off their website I think, last week.

As for BitDefender, I installed the demo which I downloaded a few days ago from their website (unregistered so far, as I only have a license for the previous version but I need to find the backup CD I have somewhere at home :-))

The current version installed is 2.10 (2.10.3864).

I just uninstalled BitDefender 2012 and LittleSnitch, using the latest version of AppCleaner (I updated to the latest version a minute ago).

I'm rebooting my laptop now, and will do so after removing each app you mention, until I notice the problem has been fixed.

Snowtape (which apparently includes Soundflower) is an Interner radio client I think. Can't use it behind our work firewall so I may as well remove it :-)

Edovia Screenconnect allows you to remote connect to your Macs running it, similar to TeamViewer and the like.

I can remove those but I'd need an app which allows me to connect to my Macs at home and work PCs. Any suggestions?

OK. It seems that removing BitDefender and Little Snitch fixed the problem. I haven't had any frozen Finder nor a spinning wheel since I restarted after removing those apps.

I will try to see how long this lasts before removing any additional apps. Fingers crossed.

I'm assuming having a partition with Win7 installed on the hard disk wasn't the issue then (using BootCamp, not any virtualization soft). Am I correct in assuming I can re-install Win7 with BootCamp?

Here's the EtreCheck output after removing Bitdefender and removing and reinstalling LittleSnitch (now version 3.0 preview 3 (3862). Everything seems to work fine, so I'm guessing that BitDefender was the issue. Since I have removed the app with AppCleaner and not the original uninstaller, I'm also assuming that the entries related to BitDefender below indicate that some system files have not been properly removed.

Bottom line is that it's working now, thanks to Mende1 and Etresoft!

Hi Again,

I've just installed BitDefender 2012 Trial with the hope I could install and reinstall with the uninstaller that came with it.

Installing worked fine, but I've already uninstalled the app twice, to no avail.

The folder /Library/BitDefender/AVP is still showing:

Any suggestion on how to get rid of this **** app?
