Why is Mountain Lion asking for my password to delete files?
All of a sudden, Mountain Lion is asking for my password every time I want to delete a file. Anyone know why?

All of a sudden, Mountain Lion is asking for my password every time I want to delete a file. Anyone know why?

Open Terminal and type:
sudo rm -ri ~/.Trashes
Thank you this worked for me! I was having the same issue in ML and it moved to Mavericks!

This worked !!
In my home directory, I executed 'ls -al' and saw that 'root' owned my .Trash file. After executing your commands, I did a 'ls -al' and noticed my User Account now owned .Trash and everything started working again. Thanks macjack
