Two panel brochure Template?

In the Buisness templates, there is only a three panel brochure. I need to make a two panel template - still with the pre made design. How do I do this the easiest way?

The 3 panel brochure has text layout like this because it has 3 columns selected in the layout inspector. If you change this to 2 columns then you can move the images and text boxes about to your liking. The second page will remain the same due to a layout break so you would need to change this too. Unfortunately there is no easier way I can see.

Alternatively you could look for templates on the web. There are a few sites which may have what you are looking for.

Thank You Stephen Jones2 and FrankBe

Im not sure, that I understand this right. What you're saying is, that I can't copy a coulum from a brochure into another project, without having to rearrange the objects and text in it?

In my projects, the first three pages are linked together (with a yellow frame around the pages), so that I can't copy page one alone - but only page four?

Sometimes the images I add to an page, suddenly flattens, so I can't move, delete or adjust size anymore. What is going wrong?

Hello calu,

to copy and paste content of a document depends on the kind of the content.

You can't select fix positioned (free moveable) objects and inline (move with text) objects at the same time. So you have to copy the text in the main text area of a page and the objects placed in it first. Than you can select and copy all other objects outside of this main text. But be sure you have unchecked the menu item "Format/Advanced/Make Master Objects Selectable", because if you copy them to the new document, they will be normal fix positioned objects and you have to separate them from the normal fix objects by hand.

So you have to copy and paste a page content (if it is NOT the ENTIRE page) in three steps: 1.) The main text area with its inline objects. 2.) The objects for the Master Page. 3.) The fix positioned objects.

If you want to copy an entire page, do it like Gerry wrote above: If it isn't, separate it with one or two section breaks from the rest of the section, select the page in the thumbnail view and use the copy function. Select the thumbnail view in the new document and use the paste function.

So you can copy one column into another document if the column uses not the main text column of the page. The main text area (column) is the middle field you can see by opening a new empty document and show the layout guides (menu: "View/Show Layout").

To answer your last question, you paste the image with the text cursor visible. This means you insert the object as an inline (move with text) object. You can change the state to a fix positioned (free movable) object, by activationg the option "Fixed on page" in the wrap inspector. Or you can insert the object after you have made the text cursor invisible by clicking outside of every text area near the borders of a page. You can see where to click best by showing the layout guides.

If you can't move this object, it may be you have locked it unintensional by hitting the shortcut [command]+[L]. Than it shows gray "x" where normally the rectangular handles are. Unlock it with [option] [command][L] or the manu item "Arrrange/Unlock".

Hello calu,

you mean that the menu item is not selctable? This is called it is ghosted or disabled. If something is highlighted, it is more visible then the other items surrounding.

You can select the section break item only in one situation: when you have placed the text cursor into the main text column (the area in a page between the header and the footer, visible by showing the layout guides). This is because of the functionality of a section break: it should separate text at specific characters into parts by placing the second part onto a new page, and this works only if you tell Pages between which characters it shall separate the text. Textboxes or shapes with inserted text are objects and not part of a documents structure, so you can't insert any kind of breaks in them, except column breaks, because you can assign a multi-column layout to textboxes and shapes, too.

Your second part is not clear to me. Have you selected (with one click) an object and the option "Fixed on page" is not selectable? This option works only for inserted media objects (like textboxes, shapes, images, etc.). Please describe your problem more detailed.
