Help clear out "other" space on iPhone
I've checked around these forums and the Net as a whole without coming to a satisfactory solution. Right now I have 4.4GB of space on my iPhone taken up by "Other." I brought it to the Apple Store and they said that was way high...then ran some tests. They came back and said some app on my phone was storing tons of data into the "other" section. They told me to start deleting apps until I found which one it was. I deleted every single app on the phone...and literally the "Other" space grew to 4.5GB. Ugh!!
So I've looked all over these forums and I've seen the solution that says "restore the phone from a backup." I did that today. No change. 4.4GB's of "Other" space. This makes sense to me as it's just recloning the phone into the mirror image of the back up...with all 4.4GB's of space taken up.
I've restored the phone to "new"...and it worked...but then I lost all of my text message history which I tend to enjoy having around. So I erased the phone again and restored it from a backup. 4.4 was back. It even dawned on me that perhaps the text history was causing all of the space issues. Afterall, there are four years of history there. So, while I had my deleted the text history from my wife. That's the one with the most pics and most videos, etc. And...nothing. No change. 4.4GB. I unplugged the phone and replugged it in. No change.
Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this issue short of wiping my phone? Apple generally seems to be on top of things like this. Please help!
