What is the unknown error
iTunes does not provided specifics on the error. It simply says that its unknow.
.
It says: "An unknow error occurred (1601)"
esolved by disabling, deactivating, or uninstalling third-party security, antivirus, and firewall software.
should fix the issue..
What I would do is turn off your iPhone hold the home button down and plug it in at the same time after turning off the virus protection and Windows Firewall..
The phone is dead. It can't turn on or off.
Jailbroken?
well if it is off you dont have to worry about turning it off.. Does your computer see the device ? and "Cheerp" when you plug it in at all ?
No it's not Jailbroken
Yes. My Mac is able to see it.
Did you try putting the phone into recovery mode? it should restore after that.. if you have iTunes open..
If it does not restore than your hardware is fried and need to replace your iPhone
When connected, it says that: "iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes."
1. Plug into AC adaptor for at least 30 minutes.
2. Reset phone (no data loss): Press both home and power buttons for up tp 30 seconds, releasing when the
Apple logo appears.
3. If no sign of life with the above, the phone has a hardware failure and there's no way you can put it in recovery or DFU mode.
Thank you all for your support. I will do as suggested.
If you can initiate restore:
1. Disable all security software (firewall, antivirus, etc.) running on your computer while restoring.
2. This error is often related to USB timing. Try changing USB ports, using a different dock connector to USB cable, and other available USB troubleshooting steps (troubleshooting USB connections. If you are using a dock, bypass it and connect directly to the white Apple USB dock connector cable. If the issue persists on a known-good computer, the device may need service.
If the issue is not resolved by USB isolation troubleshooting, and another computer is not available, try these steps to resolve the issue:
