I am using a first generation ipad and a iphone 4 to try and airplay 3rd party apps (Games, HBO to Go and Amazon prime) onto my tv but only audio comes through, no video. My software is all up to date on all devices. I have the most current appleTv out there, but from apple retail store 30 days ago.

Websites and third party Apps need enabling before they will allow AirPlay of Video content. Some Website/App developers have not enabled their products, some simply haven't got around to it yet, others have stated that they won't be enabling AirPlay (likely as a result of licensing issues).
HBO Go and Amazon definately block AirPlay.
Thank you Winston. I just found this link, http://theapple.tv/apps/list-of-airplay-enabled-apps/, which shows all apps which are airplay enabled. I hope Apple changes it strategy so they become inclusive and not exclusive to the digital world.
It's not Apple that block these apps from AirPlay, it's the provider themselves.
Fair point Winston. I guess the point I was looking to make was that airplay is limited as it is only for Apple products. Bluetooth, on the other hand, is a similar technology which supports other operating systems like Android. I love the technology of airplay, just wish it was inclusive of of other technologies. And yes, content providers need to begin thinking more broadly about how consumers want to consumer their product.
