Finder not updating correctly in mountain lion

Hi all,

has anyone else run into this problem I am finding in mountain lion? Finder windows are not updating to reflect changes to the directory.

For example:

I am working in maya. As i work I am saving iterations of my file - scene01.ma, scene02. ma etc. In fact I am up into the 70s. However when I go to the finder window to see those files they are not there. This confuses me. I go back to maya and go to open file. Sure enough all the files are there. I go back to finder. Nothing! And heres the thing - if I drag a file into that finder window thereby forcing it to update then, presto!, all my files suddenly show up. Its really annoying me!

Am I doing something wrong? Like, have I set a pref or something I didnt mean to? I rather think this is a bug. Am I alone in this?

Thanks,

Andy

It happened to me since yesterday. I've a LiveReload APP listening to a directory (in Dropbox), suddenly LiveReload warned me that this bug was in that directory, that OSX didn't report any changes to the directory and its contents. Oddly, I opened Sublime and couldn't see a file I just created. When I opened Finder to see that file, I found that wasn't shown and some old files were shown!!! so I went to terminal window and in the terminal everything was fine, but not in finder and/or the other apps.

I created a new directory, and moved everything inside and then Sublime, Finder and LiveReload started to work again... anoyoing bug!!!!!! hope that this bug is addressed in Yosemite!

I noted the same problem and seems to be related to the finder plist file settings. I was able to change the behavior until next reboot.

To have finder show all files, in a Term window:

defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE

killall Finder

To restore finder hide (hidden) files, in a Term window:

defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles FALSE

killall Finder
