Why does the iphone use 6gb of data a month?

Ok, I'm currently under the unlimited plan with Verizon and am due an upgrade. However, verizon no longer grandfathers unlimited plan holders. I use a droid for everything, heavy usage and only use 0.2gb of data a month while my wifes iphone uses 6gb a month. Clearly this makes verizons new plans unaffordable and needless to say the iphones data demand is rediculous. My household only uses 2gb of data a month with cable internet and we stream media and game online consistently. What gives? How in the world does this phone use so much data? I think it's a conspiracy to make the carriers more money

does your wife watch alot of youtube videos? does she send alot of iMessages (specificly pictures/videos)? Does she completely close the apps or just leaves them in the app switcher?

Are you able to track down which days are the "heavier days"? And try to recall what was done that day...might be easier if you can look at your current billing cycle

You're telling me that FB on an iphone uses 3 times more data a month than a house with 3 ipads, 1 tablet, 4 pc's, 1 xbox and a wii plus wifi on the cells. My kids constantly stream netflix and we use pandora and game online pretty much everyday. Yet our usage meter is an average of 2gb a month. This is illogical. Somebody must know the answer.
