I have an iMac Intel Core i5 that I bought last year in 2011. Today I turned on the computer and I have a red line on my display that leads up to 1/3 of the screen vertically. How can I fix this problem? I do not have Apple Care.

Take a screen shot & view that in Preview, move the Preview window around, if you see 2 red lines it a Video card/VRAM problem, if the line does not move moving the pic around then it's the LCD or cable.
Took the screen shot, No second red line. So ita gotta be the LCD or Cable....how do I know which is which? Am I going to have to shell out $$$$ at the Genius bar for this?? FML....
Tough to tell, but most likely the LCD, iMacs are expensive & unfriendly to work on, $$$ looks like it. 😟
