Mac os x cannot be installed on this computer

Hi , i have just erased my Macintosh HD from Disk Utility to reformat my computer ( or to reinstall Mac OS X again), after reformatting the Macintosh HD , i proceed to insert the Mac OS X Installation Disk 1 , after rebooting the computer as asked and entering my language , my Mac sent me a message saying that "Mac OS X cannot be installed in this computer "

How do i resolve this problem?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.1)

Just too bad i am the only one with a mac , well is there anything else i could do ? like make a virtual box and then install the mac software? and another problem is that my installation disk is stuck inside and i can't get it out , the reason i can't get it out is that i must abort the startup to eject the disk , but i can't startup on any other disk except the installation disk.

Paul_31. I am having a similar problem with my iMac (Mac OS X). When I click on "utilities" then "disk utility" I try to run a "disk verify" and I get a message saying the Macintosh HD file is corrupt. The computer suggests that I restart my computer with the Mac OS X installation disc to remedy the problem. My question is, will this erase all of my saved files and etc? Will this put my computer in the original factory state when I received it? Your assistance would be greatly appreciated. PS, my computer is running as as it should be. I am wondering if I need to even mess with it? Thank you.

Hi

You'd probably do better to start a new thread as this one is marked 'solved' and might not get noticed much.

But to answer your question, verifying and repairing the disk shouldn't erase any of your data, but depending on which OS you are running determines what is the best approach to do the repairs.

If you start a new thread make sure you complete your profile - what iMac you have/what OS you are running/amount of RAM, etc. as this well help contributors on here give the best advice for your particular issue.

I'll keep an eye out for your thread.
