How to revive a dead 9600/300 and 8500/120 Powermac
I now have a 9600/300 and a 8500/120 Powermac. Both ran perfect when I bought them used for a day after I updated their system software to 8.6 for many hours. After shutting them down both would not restart (completely dead). I did the usual procedures: new battery, cuda reset, processor reset, tried to start up on external Zip drive with a known good 8.6 system on a disk.
Nothing! I am at the end of my know how. Most Mac owners I know come for
help to me. Any ideas on where to go from here? Please help!

This procedure is just an attempt to simplify. The idea is that if your Drives are mucking things up, disconnecting them may get you a chime when you attempt to start up normally.
If this does not help, it may be time to pull out the motherboard and remove and re-seat everything in a connector and try again.
Hi Grant.
I just got done (wearing a static band) unplugging everything from the mother board and then plugging all back! Followed by all start-up rutines I did before: Nothing!! What's next?

I have the luxury of space so I keep spare parts around. The last recycler that I visited marked the G3 DTs and MTs down to $10 a piece and would probably accept $5 apiece if I took them all. Be watching for spare 8500/9600 towers to save them from the landfill.
