When downloading Windows Support Software from BCA, download freezes at about a sixth of the way

When I download the Windows Support Software from BCA, the progress bar freezes at about a sixth of the way through. I took my MBP to the genius bar, and they told me I should use a USB drive instead of a DVD, but even when I use a USB the problem persists. I've even tried saving it straight to my Windows Partition, and the same thing happens. I've seen many people with a similar problem, but instead of getting something like "The Windows Support Software is not available", my download just freezes. I tried to uncheck "Auto Proxy Discovery" in system preferences, but it already was. I also heard you could use the drivers on the SL installation disc, but I have a late 2011 MBP, which came with Lion, so I don't have an install disc. Does anybody else have the same problem or a solution? Any help would be appreciated.

I tried it again, it still stops at the same place, unfortunately. I think maybe it's the fact that I have w8 RP, not windows 7. I think I might just get the 7 enterprise trial.

Hey look! It actually downloaded! I think it might be because of the fact that i got a faster ISP (TWC roadrunner) after Sandy knocked out my old verizon dsl. (I'm glad too, I couldn't stand the 1 mbps, now its like 12-16) Thanks for all the help, csound and everyone else, hopefully i can get wifi to work on w8 now. I find that it gets stuck at that point for a while, then continues on.

Yes :-) Installed my old Win7 and installed the WSS drivers, activated Win7, upgraded to Win8, installed Parallels and generated a Win8 VM from the Bootcamped Windows, now I can run Sony Vegas 7 and Mac mail side by side on the same screen without rebooting :-)

The win8 interface is......fun....but it's good to be able to switch back to OSX anytime to get things done.

I think I'll revert to Windows classic interface soon...

I just left it downloading overnight, twice. it downloaded a total of about 5GB....but the file is only 1.16.....go figure
