"Cannot connect to iTunes store"

Whenever I hit the "updates" button in the App Store on my iPhone 4, a pop-up saying "Cannot connect to iTunes store" comes up. I can still download new apps. I have reset my password on my Apple ID, I have tried enabling/disabling restrictions, etc.... This is occuring on both wifi and 3G.

I am out of ideas.

I have an iPad 2 and there are no problems there. I have checked for all available downloads on iTunes, and nothing new is there. Help?

Didn't work for me. 😟 I moved the date to the furthest available. It paused my phone for several minutes, then it restarted itself. I got the not secure messages for the server, etc. I clicked okay on all of those, then went to app section and got the same "Cannot Connect to Itunes Store". Set the time to auto and went to the app store and got it again. SO FRUSTRATING!!!

The only way to update apps is by updating them on my pc, then syncing. I've tried all the other tricks. I can't connect here or at work. But I can download new apps, surf the itunes store, everything. I just can't update my apps without using the sync mode with my pc. Grrrr.....

It seems that the habit to change the date for game hacking lead all of us in this page... 😉

Letting the iphone making connections with itunes with a wrong date installed seems to be the reason that creates the problem...

iPhone needs proper date & time settings in order to achieve a secure connection needed to download updates.

http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3297 in this section it is written:

Isolate the issue: (Mac OS X, Windows, iOS)

iOS:

  1. From the home screen, tap Settings > General > Date & Time.
  2. If the option exists, turn off Set Automatically.
  3. Verify the time zone and time (in the status bar) are correct for where you are currently.
  4. If not, adjust the incorrect setting accordingly.
  5. If everything was correct and the option exists, turn on Set Automatically.

If this doesn't help you it could be a different reason creating your problem like pending downloads where the itunes guys from apple could help you by reseting your downloads...

You could also try reseting your iphone if you don't have enough to loose...

No fix is guranteed as it seems that there are different factors creating the same problem
