"Cannot connect to iTunes store"

Whenever I hit the "updates" button in the App Store on my iPhone 4, a pop-up saying "Cannot connect to iTunes store" comes up. I can still download new apps. I have reset my password on my Apple ID, I have tried enabling/disabling restrictions, etc.... This is occuring on both wifi and 3G.

I am out of ideas.

I have an iPad 2 and there are no problems there. I have checked for all available downloads on iTunes, and nothing new is there. Help?

As I've only had my new iPhone 5 for two weeks, it is still covered under apples warranty. I phoned apple yesterday who said that the fix suggested above is a fix for the iOS 5 software. As I was on the phone with the apple support crew, I figure out that I could connect to the App Store and download an app when I turned my wifi off. Apple then came to the conclusion that its a hardware issue and my wifi card is faulty. Yes I could connect to my home wifi and other wifi networks and surf the net with no problem. The problem with downloading apps was the only issue I came across with the faulty wifi card. Apple are sending me a replacement handset
