"Cannot connect to iTunes store"

Whenever I hit the "updates" button in the App Store on my iPhone 4, a pop-up saying "Cannot connect to iTunes store" comes up. I can still download new apps. I have reset my password on my Apple ID, I have tried enabling/disabling restrictions, etc.... This is occuring on both wifi and 3G.

I am out of ideas.

I have an iPad 2 and there are no problems there. I have checked for all available downloads on iTunes, and nothing new is there. Help?

I tried the date reset about 50 times...Never worked!!

Then I decided to try and load an app that was "passbook ready"...WALGREENS...It will ask you if you want to use passbook and then will pop it right in!! I was also able to load Target (It is only set for mobile coupons and when you finish the waaaay long application to that, scroll to the bottom to request Passbook)

Some of the others (United, ticket master, ect) do not let you load until you PURCHASE (boooooo!!!) Lastly, Starbucks doesn't come on board until the end of the month. (Double Boooooooo!!)

Hope this helps everybody! :-)

I think i know now the original problem to this issue.

I think the new OS has problem in identifying its wifi connections.

If i use my wifi router to connect my ipad2 I cannot to itunes store but If i'm at the office and using the mobile connections offered by our company i could access the app store. So I think apple should recognize sets its app store app to recognize wifi settings, ips, dns set for public not only in a secured connection offered in our company.

Although I could still browse the net and play some games.

Although it is nice to see that the date/time reset worked for some people, it is a little annoying to scroll through several pages of that when it didn't work for you and you still need a solution. It works for some but not others, duly noted.

Now. @oxenjo30 seems to be correct. This error has only been happening to me since I upgraded to iOS 6 (I don't play games or cheat with dates on my phone. Ever.). Apple updates containing issues and bugs? No surprise there. It seems that if I disconnect from my wifi and use my 3G, I can connect to the iTunes store fine. This is obviously only a temporary fix. I have contacted Apple support to see when they expect to fix this issue with the new OS.

Ok, I struck this problem on my ipad for the first time today, after I changed my iCloud account to the the one I use for work. I have not yet updated to ios6. So I tried the change year process. The first time it din't work, as I had previously opened aAppstore under "my purchases", not updates. So I went to AppStore, opened the updates window, got the cannot connect message, wnt back to the date settings process, which triggered the standard message, changed the date back, and this time it worked. So it seems that you have to have last opened the AppStore in the updates window before you use the change date trick.

Lol strange didn't work for me, I disable automatic time and put the date forward a few years, go back to App Store to try and update the app an it starts updating! When it finishes , the same error appears. But at least it updates. I've switched it back auto and it doesn't work. I take it off auto and set the date manually to the correct time and it still doesn't work. I'm getting nothin but problems from this iphone(5)
