iRiver iFP-790

I've seen this mentioned a few times as a solution for "man on the street" recording. I'd like to use it to record 30 minute lectures for posting.

I see some pretty good deals on this unit, but want to see if anyone has experience with it for this purpose, and if it plays well with the Mac.

I read a post that said it mounts as a drive on the desktop, and you can easily access the mp3 you've recorded there. Is that true?

And, is the quality OK? It doesn't have to be broadcast quality, but I don't want to spend money on something tinny and junky, either!

If you have experience with this item, I'd appreciate your thoughts.

Or, if you know of something that would fit this bill, I'd lov e to hear about that, too.

I've found some Sony recorders for arund $49, but don' know if they have USB as a means to upload to the computer, or if they are Mac-friendly.

I use the IFP-899 which is basically the same as the IFP-790 series except for looks.

It works great with the mac, however you will need to the IFP software to access the recordings. It does not mount as a flash drive. At least mine does not.

However with their software it is easy access you just drag and drop the files from the iRiver and it converts them to MP3's.
