Mountain Lion slows down my iMac .
iMac 27 inch late 2009
3.06 GHz intel core 2 Duo
My computer was working really well despite its age until I installed the new Mountain Lion.
Now I find that it is much slower .
The main problem is between stiching from one programme or another I get the spinning wheel for maybe 10-15 seconds,
even switching between tabs in web browser .
Any genius to help with this problem ¿?¿?¿??¿

I'm having the same problems as martinbrownart, can I jump in and ask a question? You said to delete the content of "those" folders. Did you mean all the folders in the "Cache" folder or all the folders within the Cache folder? There are many folders in mine and individual files please see image:

yes all those fiels marilyn i do this but didn't worked so i trashed also the main library cache files and worked!!! thanks

I've just installed Mountain Lion because I needed an upgrade but didn't want Mavericks with all the problems it seems to have a the moment.
I repaired permissions then dragged all of the sub folders in the Libraries/cache folder to the trash.
After that I shut down the iMac and powered it up again.
Now my iMac seems if anything to be a little faster than with Snow Leopard.
Great advice.
