Installing Ricoh MP C3500 printer

How to install this printer? I don't see the IP options that are spoken of with I select + add printer from system preferences. Have downloaded drivers from Apple site and from Ricoh. Printer shows in add printer window. Once select and attempting to print--I receive messages "looking for printer" "connecting to printer" then "printer not responding".

However, another co-worker uses OS X 10.5.8 and has the printer install as a shared printer. I am able to print from it, but cannot successfully install and use in OS X 10.7.4

MacBookPro, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

That failure could mean several things. What you need to do is to physically go to the printer and print out a configuration page using the control panel. That will give you two important pieces of information. First, it will give you the printer's IP address. Make sure that matches the IP address you have used in Print & Scan set up. I would also recommend that you use the HP JetDirect - Socket protocol rather than LPD. Ricoh recommends using the HP JetDirect connnection type.

Second, look for the printer languages that your printer supports. Does it support PostScript? The drivers you downloaded will only work if the printer supports PostScript.

If your Ricoh printer does not support PostScript, be sure to post back with the printer languages it does understand.

Hi, I tried this. I have configuration page. Printer supports PS printing. I have the IPv4 Address. I used HP JetDirect Socket. It still acts as if it is going to print, but says connecting to printer and then printer not responding.

I also tried deleting printer each time and trying all three IP Protcols and each gave the same reponse.

One thing I can't understand--if I use the normal add printer process, it says software is available from Apple. However when I choose add from that screen it starts looking for the software at Apple and then says it is not available, contact manufacturer. When I go to Apple's support for printers and scanners, it shows all drivers that were updated as of August 2012. The Richo Aficio MP C3500 is listed.

I did download the driver package from Apple and installed it. But receive the same results as above. I also downloaded package from Ricoh, same results. Printer fails to print.

Hi,

It seems the drivers are not being installed for any reason.

Try following the steps below and check if that may help resolving the problem:

  1. Go to System Preferences > print & Scan.
  2. Right click (Or CTRL + Left Click) the Printers background area and select "Reset Printing System'.
Be aware, it will remove any existing printer and its customer settings within the OS X.
  3. Confirm the prompt to reset the printing system.
  4. Go to Utilities > Disk Utility.
  5. Select the active partition of the Mac OS X and then click Repair Disk Permissions.
The log will indicate once the proccess completes.
  6. Download and install the following package:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL902
  7. Click the Plus sign and try adding the printer again using the HP Jetdirect Socket protocol.

Shlomi

Hi, I need help. I work in an office with a Ricoh Aficio MP C3500 multifunction printer. I have downloaded the drivers but in order to print need to enter my unique identifying code and do not know how to do this. Can anyone help?

If you are using the drivers downloaded from Apple or Rioch, see the screen shot below. If you are using drivers from OpenPrinting.org or another source, please start a new topic and let us know what drivers you are using and where you got them.

I do not have the job log, user id or user code. Do I need to reinstall the drivers?

With all due respect, I would suggest that you start a new topic. This is a different issue than the original poster has. Continuing this discussion in this thread does a disservice to the original poster whose issue has not yet been resolved.
