Magic Mouse keeps losing connection

For the past several days, my magic mouse keeps losing connection to my MacBook Pro, and most of the time it won't even connect at all. I thought the batteries needed changing at first, but that didn't help either. I keep going into my Bluetooth settings to try and manually connect it but, again, it didn't work. Can anyone suggest ways to try to fix this problem?

As I wrote, I wasn't saying it applied to you ... though you did not say which batteries you were actually using. Duracell and Energiser would be thought of as appropriate (along with Eneloop and Apple). You seem to be doubly unfortunate as far as having two faulty mice is concerned. Why didn't you take them back for exchange. They would have had a 12 month guarantee on them, quite long enough to discover the problem.

Hi, unfortunately both mice are older than 1 year. Both started having the same faulty connection issues after working fine for quite some time.
Speculation:
I think it might not just have to do with tolerances of battery size rather it could have to do with the connector components soldered to the board. If this connector gets loose due to replacing batteries then that could also cause the momentary disconnection. At least for one of my mice that is definitely the issue. I need to examine the other more closely.
So if you are not having the problem, consider yourself lucky... and at least take care when changing batteries not to push it too hard towards the positive end.
