why is my macbook pro shutting down and restarting?

My new Macbook Pro keeps shutting down and restarting, with a message that there was a problem.

Anyone else having this problem?

Macbook Pro, Mac OS X (10.4.11)

Hi Chubqueen,

Mine's doing the same thing. Normally after the mac has gone into sleep mode. When I hit a key to wake it, the screen comes up with the alert along the lines of "there was a problem and your Mac needs to restart". The screen is a grey colour (not flat grey but like a sort of metallic effect), and the timer ticks down to restart or I can click a button to restart.

I can't screen grab the alert because the OS is not available. Just the grey screen (reminds me a little of a firmware update screen).

It's also inconsistent - must be a software conflict of some kind...?

Heellllllppp someone!
