Anyone know if the Podcasts app will eventually support playlists since apparently the Music app will no longer support podcasts in iOS 6? I like watching video podcasts on my iPhone at the gym (esp sine the music app on the iPad won't do video playlists), and do not want to have to keep choosing a new podcast whilst working out.

Yes, you can now access the playlists via the "My Stations" section at the bottom of the podcast app. And you can create your "on the go" list.
Something I've now discovered that is really annoying is that if you have the setting for a podcast subscription "on" then it stops synching with itunes in the computer. The annoying part is that if you have everything on the computer it will still wait to download on your device. That's a little dumb and it seems like they could have the devices speak to each other and not duplicate tasks.
I'm a little baffled that Apple doesn't have people come to threads like this and announce important changes like this. It would take all of a minute and would be so much more convenient for the users than people having to figure it out themselves. One person on a team should be tasked to get the word out to various forums.
Add me to this long list of Smart PLaylist users who is very disappointed and annoyed that the Podcast APP, which i MUST use on my iPhone5s no longer allowes me to use the Smart Playlist the way I used to for years with my iPhone 4.
What am I or Apple doing wrong?
Sort of makes the purchase of the iPhone5s be less exciting.
Is there another way or software to do this?

On page 9 of this thread, I recommended PodBlaster. I used that to sync my smart playlists from iTunes. I switched to Android earlier this year so I'm no longer in tune with the limitations of Apples Podcast app... however, PodBlaster has been updated so I'm sure it still does the trick. Has other great features as well.
