When will Podcast app support playlists?

Add me to the list of complainers on this issue. I have a large backlog of podcasts that I have mixed and queued up in iTunes and have added and listened to for YEARS, while driving to high school, walking around campus in college, on road trips, and now walking to work.

It appears you can change the order of playback for a given "channel".

Choose the podcast channel, hit the title bar instead of the episode and choose your option from "Sort this Podcast".

Right, that's your problem sorted, now how about explaining how this stupid app will actually sync with iTunes on a PC and will avoid resurrecting old podcasts?!

Very angry.

If I relaized that playlists for podcasts was going away, I would have not updated my phone to iOS6. I really hope Apple resolves this and fast, I have OCD and have to have my podcasts in a certain order everyday and part of my routine has been screwed with this morning. I NEED this problem fixed.

Solution is to delete the podcast app, and then restart the phone. Podcast functionality should be restored in the music app (although, yes, this is a horrific oversight on the part of Apple, and removing the podcast playlist functionality from the music app without putting it in the podcast app was monumentally stupid.)

Fortunately there IS a solution to this: simply erase the Podcasts (and iTunes U) apps and restart the Music app. The podcasts are back in their correct playlists.

I too was extremely frustrated when iOS 6 took away this basic functionality, but relieved to discover that as long as I deleted the Podcasts app everything is back to normal. They really have released Podcasts far too early. I like the concept, though, so when they restore playlist functionality I will reinstate the app. Doesn't exactly build confidence, however, to see that such an obvious problem is part of a major release.

Uh oh, it will not let me update new episodes of my podcasts unless I install the podcast app!

Didn't work 😟 Deleted iTunes U app and tried even removing podcasts and re-syncing them, but still my podcast playlists are missing on the device 😟

You also need to reset the app (double-tap the home button to show currently running apps, then hold and x-out each one to reset it)

Ran into this last night. A baffling oversight in the upgrade.

I did retain the "playlist" (at least by name) that I use for my playlist, and the "now playing" button still took me to the current podcast I had been listening to. Podcasts even play in the order I've assigned in the playlist, but as mentioned by others, the podcasts don't appear in the playlists (the playlist is entirely blank).

It also appears that I am able to sync so that old podcasts are deleted, and new ones are added, and they seem to play correctly. I don't know what will happen if the app crashes, and whether this blind link would persist though.

So playlists seem functional but the blank list is disconcerting. The advice to delete the podcast app is a brute force work around that we shouldn't have to do.

I was disappointed by the podcast app too. It does sync podcast content with ITunes, but not status and position. And indeed, no playlist either. Furthermore, the UI is sluggish.

I will stick to the Downcast app for the time being.

Did that too. Still no playlists (though the podcasts are their in the music app).

Also restarted and still no dice 😟. I miss my playlists 😟

Me too, this is the crappiest move since the new maps, how lovely that you can no longer mix music and podcasts or produce your own podcast playlists! Genius!
