How to insert Emojis and other characters other than ...

I have checked the manual and could not find information on how to insert these kind of special characters that I have opened up from the EDIT MENU—Special Characters while on my webpage, including arrows, stars, mathematical symbols, etc.

I have tried the Command, Option and Control keys singularly and in combination upon selecting the character I want to insert on a web page. I have tried letters on the keyboard, but nothing happens.

Okay, I am dense! But, would appreciate someone assisting me with this matter.

Right on! That's the view exactly!

Well, you have blown me over with the information about Unicode and UTF-8 encoding. I presume the average person does not need this information. Or, maybe we do need this inforamton.

All I want to do is insert the character into my web page and do whatever I need to do to make it look good.
