How to fix a cracked Iphone 4 screen?

An Apple store will charge you US $149 for an out of warranty replacement, if the front screen. This will preserve your existing one year warranty. You do anthing else, & you void all warranty & support, as well as the right to an out of warranty replacement, should the need arise in the future.

You could always buy the screen and replace it yourself. Aftermarket screens go for around $30. I would recommend Amazon or another site with good reviews.

Search youtube for a video on how to replace the screen. I've never had to replace mine so that's probably the best advice I can give.

If it were me, I would pay the $149 to keep the Apple care warranty and make sure it was done right. I trust Apple more than I would trust myself, but I was just providing another (cheaper) option that maybe lalamarika was not aware of.
