Won't start up; charger blinking orange

Came home from work and went to turn on my late-2011 MacBook Pro. It won't start up. Nothing happens (no tone, no motor noise, nothing). When plugged in (MagSafe power charger that came with the unit) the charger unit blinks orange. Tried the charger on my other computer - works just fine. Tried 2 other MagSafe power chargers (from other Macs I own/have owned) and all act the same way with this computer, but work just fine with another Mac.

Anyone have any idea what's going on? I have owned Macs since 1988 (over the years I've owned a Macintosh II, Macintosh Performa, Power Mac, Power Book, and another MacBook Pro before this one). I've never had a problem like this one before...HELP!

[A side note: There have been NO spills, no tumbles, no falls, nothing to prompt any sort of issues....This was a completely RANDOM "dead" laptop!]

I had the same problem. The power adapter was blinking orange. Disconnecting the battery wouldn't fix it. I'm not exactly sure what fixed it but this is what I did.

1) plug power adapter into a different wall circuit

2) remove back cover and unplug battery (make sure it can't reconnect)

3) plug in power adapter (be careful with the back off of the computer) and hold down the power button for a long time (30 seconds). At this point the power adapter started blinking green.

4) unplug the power adapter

5) plug the battery back in and put cover back on computer

6) plug power adapter back into computer (at this point the power adapter went orange to indicate charging and my computer started just fine)

7) back everything up because you might not be as lucky next time.

Hello,

When my computer was left uncharged, it died. And it wouldn't turn back on, as strangely it wouldn't charge 😕(the light on the charger just didn't light up).So I tried and tried for a couple of days and nothing worked. I though it was my charger so I bought a new one but that wasn't the problem. 😢

So I took it to Apple and they tried charging it at the time and it worked just fine. It magically turned on 😮?!!

Thus I took my laptop back today as according to the people in Apple my laptop was perfectly fine.

Today when my laptop was 100% charged I took the charger out and started watching a movie. Suddenly it died and the same thing is happening😠😠

It just won't charger. And since it won't charge it won't turn on....

PLEASE HELP ME 😍

Okay, just like the posts at the start of this thread, I went directly for the battery connector.

I Opened, unscrewed, the bottom cover of my late 2012 MBP.

Located the battery connector using images from google.

Disconnected the battery connector.

A few seconds later, reconnected it.

Connected the charger to check if the green light comes on.

After seeing the charger green light is on, I screwed back the bottom cover.

Just finished this and the MBP is working fine.

Good luck.

I am experiencing this problem with my late 2011 mac book 13" pro now. I have an appointment at the genius bar tommorrow for them to try and get this thing working again without me messing with the screws and messing something else up. I hop this works out being all my important stuff on my comp still has yet to be backed up. Thanks for your help guys.

To be clear, there isn't any Apple Store near my place. Morelike; in the whole country. I live in the UAE and although there are Apple authorized service centers listed in my country, they are just plain old service centers for repair and spare parts. There is no Genius bar there.

Which is why I choose to open up my MBP whenever it is necessary. This is the second time. The first was to remove the 2 DVDs, Lion King & Kung Fu Panda I, my 4 year old son stuffed into the DVD slot.

Also I am a working electronics engineer so its actually fun to fix my things. Plus the warranty is not important anyway. I also use time machine to backup my MBP every other week.

Basically that is why I DIY the MBP.

I really want to try your solution as it seems to have a high success rate! I've got the case open but now I'm stumped. WHERE is the battery connector cable on this 2008 or 2009 Macbook? Mine doesn't look like the pic that was posted or the vid that was linked to. Anyone who can help, please do & many thanks. BTW I'm a total novice so be as explicit as possible.

I don't know how many like you would get for this quick fix. It happened to me today...my laptop was fully charged and my wife moved to the next room and screen went blank. For me it was blinking green instead of blinking orange. I am assuming blinking orange for battery that is depleted whereas blinking green is for battery that is changed but not supplying power to the motherboard.

In parallel i called up apple store & they gave me an appointment tomorrow @ 4.00 PM whereas I have an international flight to catch the next day. They would have definitely charged a lot of money for this asking to replace parts. You saved my time....thanks a Ton!
