I was told by Adobe tech support to install sane since Acrobat x pro doesn't recognize my epson perfection 1670 scanner. I don't what to download or how to use/install it.
Please help me!

Twain Sane can be downloaded HERE. Others have recommended it as well and it is a viable option if your scanner is no longer supported under Mountain Lion.
It is a bit of work to install and configure, but the developer says a preference pane is available and makes it a bit easier. Check out the site for instructions on how to install and configure it.
By the way, another option mentioned in the other support thread is VueScan. It's commercial but might be worth the money if you are unable or unwilling to install Twain Sane.
In reality, only VueScan or a new scanner seem to be the only viable choices. Both cost money however.
The SANE option is not really an option for most users of OS X 01.8.x. All the installers have an InstallationCheck that will only allow the software to be installed on OS X 10.7.x. While it is possible to get around this stumbling block, only those that already know how to do should attempt it in my opinion.
