Why does Facebook website (not app) crash in Safari?

Anyone else having a problem with FaceBook crashing...and no other websites? I do not have the FB app, I log in directly via Safari (latest update) and within a few minutes, FaceBook crashes....and keeps crashing even after a re-boot. This does not happen on any other website and I have no problems with Safari, Mail, iBook etc. or any apps.. I have the 3rd gen iPad, wifi, 4G *ha!* ...only a few weeks old...use to have an iPad 2 that ran perfectly. Have contacted Apple several times and they said to keep rebooting, reboot the wifi (which is FINE) and seem to be at a loss to fix this bug, which, obviously is a Safari issue since the crashes only happen on FaceBook..again, logged in directly to the website, not via the app. Apple wants me to do a total restore, but I'm dubious. Feedback appreciated!

I tried it! I tried it! I did a quick check - went on a friend's wall and shared a picture directly from my news feed, and . . . NO CRASH!!! The scroll down is a little delicate - one of the top banner/bars shows often in the middle of the page and the page seems to quickly re-load often, but no crash as of yet. I hope it lasts! Yay! Thank you for the suggestion!

My son has a Galaxy Tab 10.1., but he much prefers my original iPad 1 and my latest iPad 4. The Galaxy Tab never crashes on the Facebook website. My iPad 1 has been crashing on the FB page since ios 5 came out. The iPad 4 crashes a least as often as the iPad 1. I could see the iPad one running out or memory, but the iPad 4? Gimme a break. IOS should be able to handle memory better than that.

I tried this puffin browser and for me it also crashed. It also had a messed up page view, with sliced images and the Facebook info bar hovering around the centre of the page. In short, puffin was even worse than safari with Facebook. I also tried disabling JavaScript... This brought up a message from Facebook at the top of the page saying "for best results enable java or get the latest Facebook mobile app".

So I'm thinking now that Facebook is deliberately messing up ipad browsers to force us into using their mobile app. I have installed and checked, then removed about five browsers now, including puffin, opera, chrome, mercury. How they can get away with this is beyond me. Why are apple allowing this to continue? It's like Facebook is hijacking our browsing experience and our iPads.

The other question is why does fb want us to use their app so badly? I can only assume its because they want to collect our information.

Interesting. My iPad crashes with low memory, I talked to apple 3-4 times and they even swapped out my iPad for it. I talked to apple L2 and he acted like he never heard of it. His only suggestion was to us the app. I did try pufffin and it didn't crash, but don't really like it. I have tried chrome and it crashes also.

Apple needs to come up with an official stance on this, they just wasted my time with a known issue.

i bought an ipad 3 with ios6 about a month ago. facebook with safari worked great until 3 days ago. now i can only post to 1 or 2 posts at the top of the news feed. and the posts of other people are sometimes messed up. the words are crammed into a skinny column to the right of the box, making it really long with a lot of blank space. i refuse to use the app (which doesnt work well, either), so i will post on a computer.

and just for the heck of it, i just tried facebook thru the browser on my galaxy tab 7", which i have only been using the past two months as mostly a wifi hotspot. fb doesnt work there either and ive used that before i got the ipad all the time for two years and it has worked. i am going to go with the theory that they want tablet users to use the app, which i will not. i am not that addicted.

Facebook began crashing my original iPad a couple months ago but it's deteriorated even further over the past few days. First it was whenever I opened a window to view a photo. Then a couple days ago I couldn't Like, now I can't even comment because the keypad doesn't come up. Using Chrome is no better and the Facebook app crashes on launch. I did notice Facebook has added a few new features this week, like number of views, so I suspect it's more a Facebook issue than any particular browser.
