Why does Facebook website (not app) crash in Safari?

Anyone else having a problem with FaceBook crashing...and no other websites? I do not have the FB app, I log in directly via Safari (latest update) and within a few minutes, FaceBook crashes....and keeps crashing even after a re-boot. This does not happen on any other website and I have no problems with Safari, Mail, iBook etc. or any apps.. I have the 3rd gen iPad, wifi, 4G *ha!* ...only a few weeks old...use to have an iPad 2 that ran perfectly. Have contacted Apple several times and they said to keep rebooting, reboot the wifi (which is FINE) and seem to be at a loss to fix this bug, which, obviously is a Safari issue since the crashes only happen on FaceBook..again, logged in directly to the website, not via the app. Apple wants me to do a total restore, but I'm dubious. Feedback appreciated!

holy macaroni! i just realised that i may have posted under wrong subject because I am using a MacBook and not an iPad. Anyway, if you wouldnt mind listening: What I am trying to do at this point (because the taking off and putting back-on of the bookmark did not work) is I am switching to Safari. Oh I seemed to start having problems again but it cleared out. So I am writing this last comment using Chrome and I am about to fully switch to Safari (the facebook page has opened all right there!)

Having the same exact issue. I have an iPad 1 and an iPad 2 and BOTH are giving me the same problem and they are running different iOS. My iPad 1 is running iOS 5.1.1 and my iPad 2 is running iOS 6. Both started giving me the same issues around the same time when I did software updates on both of them about 2 months ago. Everytime I go to Facebook and scroll down on someones timeline its closes my safari browser. Meanwhile, every other webpage I could possibly imagine is running fine and does not crash! I am glad I found this thread because I am at whits end trying everything I could possibly think of to solve this issue and am glad to hear I am not the only. My main question is where is APPLE during all this. I see multiple people have commented in this "support" group but have yet to see a single answer on Mac's behalf! Seriously considering over to Samsung Note haven't seen anykind of issues with them at the moment. Is this a problem isolated to iPads? Is it only native to Safari? Or is this a facebook bug "scheme" all together?

i am not having the problem with accessing my facebook anymore through my newsfeed and i dont know why, there are three things that i changed though, the first thing i changed was, before the problem started, i had switched some aspects of my facebook from public to private, the second change is, while i was having the problem, i restricted a couple of users' updates from appearing on my newsfeed because they would post every single day at least ten times tons of images and videos and what not which over-crowded my page, and, the third change is i switched from chrome to safari. i think you should try the updates restriction.

Hey everybody, I don't know if I said this already but what seems to be happening is that some (or many) of your friends post too much clutter on your 'newsfeed', this is not handled appropriately by browsers like safari or chrome, so the solution is to notice (when you can access fb!) which are the people who are posting way too much (usually it is posts that involve images or videos) and go into their friend settings and where it says 'How many updates?' put a check next to 'Only important', that way you will be able to open fb without a crash.

It's a memory issue as you can see in the dumplog it produces ( view in settings...-->use) due to low memory safari crashes. So limit the amount of pages you open. Turn of icloud bookmarks sync. Clear data safari. If nothing helps turn of javascript as well. The tip above will limit the amount of data. Otherwise use fb app. Good luck and hopefully apple will incorporate memory caching in the future

My Story... Wife's 1st Generation iPAD worked fine until the OS upgrade. Let me repeat... I had a happy wife with her iPAD BEFORE the OS Upgrade. I was the dummy that told her she needed to keep it up to date with the latest OS. She noticed it crashing while viewing Facebook, but Safari is crashing even on other websites. This was not happening before the OS upgrade. So it being a "Facebook" issue is false in my opinion. Seems to be happening on graphic sites and is running slow. No, it is not the connection (sitting NEXT to the WiFi) and I have no other issue with any other device in my home.

I have done everything I have found on line to do with this thing without any resolution. She is frustrated (and in turn frustrating me) and she wants to get rid of it.

My iPad is crashing on Facebook as well. I have a 1st generation device. If I go on any friends wall, it crashes. Like the rest, this has been happening for a few months. Now, when I try to share an image, it crashes. I'm not interested in using the limited app. After reading the post just above by jbland, I disconnected from iCloud. I also removed the FaceBook bookmark, and cleared my history, etc. Went to Facebook, logged in from scratch, tried to share the image, and . . . CRASH! Nothing worked.

My question is, even after disconnecting from iClod & clearing the cache, could we still be looking at a facebook privacy-grabbing issue as Stylinexpat suggests on the previous pages here?

Thanks for any further insights.
