Why does Facebook website (not app) crash in Safari?

The app works, and has worked. Problem is that it's not the full FB experience. Therefore this is not really a solution. Is Apple is saying that the iPad cannot handle the ever increasing demands of Internet content, just how many more sites will be affected? This pretty much ***** if you ask me!

BellBee that ***** that this is the answer given to you. It seems like the iPad 2 may not have this issue nor all the iPad 3 tablets. I tried to replicate the issue on display units at best buy and they all seemed to load the facebook website just fine. I guess what is being suggested is that us who just bought a new iPad may have crappier hardware that may not Be able to handle larger throughput. That's my feeling for what is going on. I think I going to return mine and get a galaxy note.

Just a confirmation that it's not safari. I switched to Crome, and am having the same problems.

Just tested it using the facebook app, unfortunately that doesn't even work still crashing on low memory. Nothing else was running when crash occur. Multiple times.

Has anyone contacted Facebook tech support about this?

after reading everyone posts and comments about facebook & safari I started looking at the app I was running on my ipad. I found out that the fb app I was running was always taking me to Safari and opening a new tab. Just as if I did it my self in Safari. This is how I checked chrome when it crashed. Why the FB app was not the up-to-date app on my Ipad I have no idea. I also check the discriptions of the apps in Itunes and these did not match what I was running. So I deleted the app on my Ipad and re-installed it. Now we are running the new FB app. This keeps you in the FB app and does not route you to Safari. At this time seems like FB is working. No crashing yet. I figured this out because many of you kept saying you did not want to use the FB app. Hope this helps someone.

Of course the Facebook application works because if it didn't it would not have been approved to be listed for download on iTunes. What they made not to work is Facebook's regular website once thy detect you are using an iPad so that you would need to download their application because they want to know all your personal info and Safari's browser prevents them from being able to access your personal info but with the application they can access your personal info ( just check out the permissions on Google when you want to download Facebook).

@Lamperti2, the reason you have the same problems with Chrome as well as Safari is because Facebook detects you are using an iPad whether you use Safari or Chrome. They create this problem through the browser.

After upgrading to 6.0 on my iPhone 4, I will not be doing the same on my iPad for a while! I am appalled at the problems I had! I have been having this problem for a while too and proposed this dillema to my friends on Facebook - ironically, and one of my friends suggested changing browsers. Dolphin was suggested . . . that is the only one I've tried, but even it crashed with Facebook!

I bought the IPad 3 because FB started to crash on my IPad 1. Sadly, it is worse. I plan to see if the problem exists on IPad's competition. If not, goodbye IPad.

I am having problems with the fb website as well and I use Chrome. I have it under my bookmarks, maybe I'll try deleting and re-adding bookmark. So what I do is I just click on the fb icon on my bookmark and it's supposed to open my page directly because I have saved the password in automatic-mode. But i can see on top the sign for 'loading' page and it keeps turning round and round. Yesterday, the only thing that loaded on the page were the banners, my name, and some text, today, it loads the complete page but then i cannot scroll down or click anything on it (it's frozen) and the sign on top keeps saying 'loading, loading'.

They just want you to download the application so they could copy all your contacts from your address book along with all your Notes and all your pictures. In the old days the Facebook page worked fine but now that they found that many people were starting to go to their Facebook site directly without download their theft enabled application they made their application not so user friendly when used by an iPad. Funny how all other websites open up just fine except the Facebook page on the iPad and very odd how they don't tell you that their websie page requires a regular computer in order to access. I call B S if you ask me. They just want to steal all your private info.
