Iphoto date change giving wrong date

When I try to change the date of a scanned photo I get a strange and incorrect date in response.

For example if I put in 25/01/1985 I get a return date of 12/11/573. Each time I try to input the correct date the return date is earlier and earlier.

I have tried changing the file date through terminal. I have tried resetting the system date but the changed photo date still won't move to the one I input.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Cheers

Paul

Six months along and I discovered the same issue with photos imported from a camera with a bad date set up. Changing the "set date and time automatically" in System Preferences worked. Thanks for the advice and work around. Hoping that the iPhoto bug fix will come soon. I am current on iPhoto 11 (version 9.4.3) and the issue was still there.

I know this is an old thread, but I'm having the same problem, Date was set wrong in the camera. When I try to fix the dates in iPhoto it won't accept the change, and in fact just goes to some random date. I would like to try turning off the automatic date and time setting in preferences as suggested here by RadMac, , but I cannot find that setting. Can someone advise me? Using iPhoto 11 9.4.3. Thank you

I thought the post was regarding iPhoto date/time preferences. I changed the system pref as Larry HN indicates, no difference in iPhoto. I set it to a 2016 date and when I told it to update all the batch changed photos, I ended up with 1739. I tried adjusting one photo individually and ended up with the event having happened in 1671. has any other solution been discovered?
