does my imac support 3gb ram
look guys the thing is my system is the imac 17 inch intel core 2 duo 1.83 ghz late 2006
when i go to my imac manuals on apple site it and put my serial number in of my imac it says it supports 3gb ram
right now i have 2gb ram only on one slot i have another 1gb memory that i put to my imac and it apears to not work
but i dont know because i have heard that you have to have the memorys match as in size 2x2 but it will take 3gb only from there is that how is gonna work putting them pairs 2x2g because it appers that my system supports 2g per slot and one other thing the memory i got installed has a name on it for example the name on it will be kingston on it on the 2gb i got installed and the other one wich is the 1gb i want to installe but doesnt work says another type of name it means its not same manufacture i mean is the same as in 200 pin so dimm pc2 -500 like that is all the same but the name is just diffrent i dont know if that also will make the 1gb not work because of its different name or something or the imac doesnt recognizes at same name or diffrent voltage from the other one i dont know please guys help should i installe the 2x2g so it can work or???????
