mid 2010 macbook pro freezes and restarts when moved.

My macbook pro crashes daily and sometimes I have to keep turning it on for about 5 minutes because it doesn't start up it just beeps. once it starts up it tends to crash when moved even slightly. I have the crash reports and I'm hoping someone can help me. This problem started to occur once I upgraded to mountain lion and I dont know if the problem has to do something with mountain lion or if it's just coincidence. I searched around on the web and think that maybe it is my logic board. Thank you in advance.

This is maybe the issue. I installed Mountain Lion (guh), and it ruined my computer by writing its installation over the operating system paritition. The solution at the Apple store was to replace my hard drive. After doing this my fan was going ballistic and my computer was super hot, so i reset the SMC and the PRAM, which worked to reset the something and my computer and fan chilled out (pun intended), then the crashes started. They would occur when I picked the computer up, or press a key too hard, or bump the table, or for no reason at all (If i left it on a table it would eventually just go down). sometimes it wouldn't start back up again without an pram restart, sometimes i'd have to leave it for a few hours or the display wouldn't come back on, and sometimes it would make horribly loud beeping sounds. I reseated the ram, no go. I cloned everything over to an external, and booted off that, in order to bypass the internal hard drive, it worked for awhile then started crashing. I even took out the hard drive to boot exclusively externally. Again, crashing. Disk utility sometimes says that the various hard drive's are just fine, sometimes that they need repair, sometimes repair works, sometimes not. nothing changes with these hard drives, I've used three to no avail. I'm going to go ahead and rule out the cable seeing as I've run off an external. I'll also rule out the connector... which leaves the board... maybe. I'm heading to the Apple store Sunday and I'm secretly wishing they'll just give me a new one :-( I'll post here when I know what's up, unless anyone else has advice.

I'm also not sure that it's the battery... These shutdowns don't always occur in the same way. Last night for example, I had my computer in bed (it shut down on the way, but i really wanted to watch walking dead before bed) all of a sudden the screen went nuts, it was still on, but sections of the screen image were distorting and swaying back and forth (i'm not sure how to properly describe this but it was kind of like a digital 2D tornado).

Whereas running off the external drive should lead to more stability, the fact that the internal drive is still spinning in there and hanging from a potentially bad cable may cause the controller (that also takes care of the external) to freak out at regular intervals.

While you do the testing, would suggest you unplug/remove the internal drive altogether and really take that chain of components completely out of the equation.

I've done so. worked for a bit, then crash :-( just to ensure the usb didn't become unseated I tried it without again and after awhile... crash.

The description you have of your computer problem was exactly how mine was and it was really irritating.. I don't know of replacing the hard drive cable was the solution, but I haven't had any problems since then.

mid 2010 macbook pro freezes and restarts when moved.
