My headphones don't play voices (either that or not very well) What can I do?

I have been using some cheap headphones with a microphone (plugs into the jacks at the back right), and for the last 9 months they have been working really well for recording and sound, but recently when I play a song everything plays fine exept the voices. It's either really really bad quality or you can't hear it at all.

This not just for songs, but for some games and movies.

It plays through the normal speakers fine, but I need it to work with my headphones and I don't want to go out and buy expensive USB ones (which, I'm overusing my usb slots anyway).

Anything I can do to get it to work? I've tried partially putting it in, to forcing it in a bit further (not enough to cause any kind of damage, I assure you), but nothing has changed.

Hi.

Sounds like there is nothing to do but replace the headphones.

Before you go out and buy a new set, try this set in another device - stereo, boom box, whatever - and see how they perform. If they do well with something else, then the problem is the connection on your iMac and you will likely need to get it serviced.

if the headphones sound like cr*p even on another device, then the answer is clear. They are cheap and you've worn them out. Time to pony up for a new set. 😉

I hope this is helpful.
