DVD & Mountain Lion

Dear all...

Having upgraded to mountain lion I'm finding an issue playing video_ts files over my network - I have a mac mini with an attached hard disk which can play the video_ts in dvd player and I also have a timecapsule with a video_ts folder which can also be played...

However, my upstairs mac which connects to the downstairs mac (with hard disk) and the timecapsule has some problems. It can play the video_ts from the time capsule perfectly, but not the video_ts from the networked hard drive (fine if I connect the hard drive physically to it)!

This has only happened since the mountain lion upgrade - any ideas much appechiated!!!

P.S - error from DVD player says "There was a problem opening the media. The media type is not supported."

Thanks in advance!

David

Can confirm, exact same problem since upgrading to Mountain Lion:

VIDEO_TS or .dvdmedia files on a MacPro (early 2009, 10.8.2) won't play over the network on MacMini or MacBookPro (each running 10.8.2), but will play locally. The MacPro is wired to an AirportExtreme, the other Macs are connected wirelessly, over 5GHz N. This setup has worked fine in Lion, Snow Leopard, etc.

Other programs such as VLC play the same files fine over the network.

Wow, great news on my part -- tried it in 3 different ways (10.8.5) and it all works for me Mac Pro playing VIDEO_TS from a MacMini (Pro wired/Mini Wireless), MBP playing from MacPro (wirelless/wired); MBP playing from Tiime Capsule - internal drive (wireless).

None of these worked before (see may post above), they all work now. Victor: I don't have your exact setup (no USB hub, no Airport Extreme. I would strongly suggest experimenting with eliminating the USB hub -- I realize you need it, but just to see if it makes a diffirence). Make sure your AE firmware is up to date.

P.S. Apple: please tell me there isn't a regression in Mavericks...
