iOS 6 iPod Touch (4G, 32GB) Performance boost?

Hello everybody, I have an iPod touch 4G running iOS 5, and it is really slow and laggy. Has anyone tested the iPod touch with iOS 6? Would it be worth updating to iOS 6? Is there a performance increase, or is it the same?

Thank you very much in advance 🙂

Regards

Oh, and one more thing, I was typing a question in apple discussions in Safari, using the Pod touch 4G. I had noticed the keyboard lagging, but ignored it... until Safari crashed, making me lose a fairly long text. Is this normal for this iPod?

Those who legitimately have iOS 6 have signed a non-disclosure agreement that prevent them from discussion iOS 6 before it is released.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Going to keep this brief as I was doing a detailed post when Safari crashed and lost it. My response was actually a little more positive. Things seem to work but often it feels like the hardware is being pushed to the limit.

I don't like to turn stuff off as I like the default funtionaliy like message center etc. But if I continue to run into problems I may try the suggestion.

I've tried Chrome but found it performed similar to Safari.

Infinity Blade finally ran but was horribly laggy. Had similar problems on iOS 5, but not nearly to the extent I'm currently seeing.

The thing I loved about the iPod was I never thought about it, just used it constantly.

Hopefully Apple will patch to fix these performance issues.

@ WDI,

I agree that to most people (including me) the factory default settings work best and people don't like to generally change those settings but unfortunately the iPod touch 4 was made for ios 4.xx ( I mean the hardware could easily handle anything iOS 4.xx threw at it without breaking a sweat ) , but unfortunately things changed when Apple introduced iOS 5.xx on the Ipod. 😢

The performance of ipod touch 4g on iOS5.xx was horrible to say the least, but apple also started selling iPod Touch 4G( black & white) with iOS 5 out of the box. Now to me and others who have used the iPod Touch 4g on iOS 4.xx know what iOS 5.xx feels like and believe me the above options which I/ .Asa have suggested are more like fire-fighting measures we have been implementing to get the ios 4 experience... and sometimes these little tricks do work ! 😉

Like you said, let's hope the next patch shows some improvements 🙂

Thanks !

Has anyone else been experiencing pretty strong delays and freezes in their iPod touch 4th Gen. recently? I have a 32 GB iPod with more than 5GB of free space, but for some reason, after updating to iOS 6, it shows symptoms of low RAM often (app crashes, freezing, local lag, etc.). I have done the usual remedies (like clearing multitask bar and hard-resetting my ipod). Now, maybe due to my frequent restarts, my home button is physically broken (it no longer clicks). What can I do to fix the slowness of the iPod (the button's a lost cause)?
