Is there a way to monitor info (IP, MAC, Hostname,etc.) of clients connected to my iPhone's Personal Hotspot? Surely there must be a way to get more info than simply how many connections are currently active.
Been an iPad and iPhone user for about a year now. I noticed right off that when someone asks about a feature that doesn't exist the answer is usually something like "you don't need it" or just no. Keep sending notes up to the device development and marketing folks. In this case, even your most basic hotspot or router in the real world has a feature to see who's connected by device id.

I am trying to do exactly the same thing. I've been able to determine the IP address of the Pi and SSH into it, but no luck with VNC so far. I followed this process:
- Attach iMac to the iPhone's personal hotspot via wifi
- Attach Pi to the iPhone's personal hotspot via wifi
- Open Terminal on the iMac and run "ifconfig"
- Note the IP address assigned to the iMac's Wifi adapter. In my case it was 172.20.10.5.
- I then ran Pi Finder on the Mac (http://ivanx.com/raspberrypi/), and it found the Pi's IP address, which was 172.20.10.6 -- a sequential assignment as compared to the Mac's address. Not sure if that's the case each time or if it was a fluke.
- I was able to SSH from the iMac into the Pi from Terminal on the Mac ("ssh pi@172.20.10.6"), and it seemed to have full functionality.
I could not however connect to it via VNC from the iPad (which I had also connected to the iPhone's personal hotspot). Not sure if the iPhone is blocking it, or simply isn't running something that VNC requires in order to pass the packets back and forth? I don't enough about VNC, still investigating this one. I'd love to be able to run the Pi headless off a battery and control it from the iPad while both are connected through the iPhone's personal hotspot.
