I updated iTunes (10.7) and now iPhone Configuration Utility will not run.

I update iTunes to 10.7 today and now the iPhone configuration utility configuration utility will not run. It doesn't give an error message. Nothing happens.

I tried uninstalling both applications and re-installing them. Still doesn't fix the problem. This is on a Win 7 SP1 32 bit system. Anyone else seen this yet?

You just need to roll back your iTunes to previous version 10.6.3 for it to work.

Go to the Uninstall a program from the Control Panel and uninstall these following:

1. Apple Application Support

2. Apple Mobile Device Support

3. Apple Software Update

4. Bonjour

5. iTunes

After that, just reinstall iTunes 10.6.3 and everything should work as prior. Remember not to update iTunes to version 10.7!!!

Wait until Apple releases a fix for this problem.

Hope this help for everyone.

Cheers!

Same issue. Was using IPCU successfully, then upgraded iTunes to 10.7 and then IPCU no longer worked. This is with IPCU 3.5 on Windows 7 x64 SP1.

In my case, IPCU is much more important than iTunes (corporate environment), so I tried rolling back using Windows system restore. This allowed IPCU to operate again (and was able to complete what I needed to do), but in the process broke iTunes.

I then unistalled iTunes, Apple Mobile Device Support and Apple Application Support, deleted "%UserProfile%\Music\iTunes\iTunes Library.itl" (you will get a version mismatch error if you don't do this), reinstalled IPCU 3.5, reinstalled iTunes 10.6 and they both worked again. Of course, I then ensured that I did not attempt to upgrade iTunes.

Same problem in Japan.

I succeeded in booting IPCU.exe again by cleaning up iTunes 10.7 and reinstall 10.6.3.

if you want some reference , see blelow .

1. uninstall "iTunes" from your computer with "control Panel"

2. unintall "Apple Software Update"

3. uninstall "Apple Mobile Device Support"

4. uninstall "Bonjour"

5. uninstall "Apple Application Support"

6. uninstall "Mobile Me"

7 uninstall "iCloud"

8. delete C:¥Program Files¥Bonjour

9. delete C:¥Program Files¥Common Files¥Apple¥

10. delete C:¥Program Files¥iTunes¥

(if you use a 64bit windows OS ,"Program Files" must be transposed "Program Files(x86)" )

11. install "iTunes 10.6.3"

12. install "IPCU3.5.xxx"

13. reboot your computer

14. done

sorry for my poor english .

We have the same issue here in Switzerland. We updated to iTunes 10.7 and now the configuration utility won't start. We need the utility because we set up all iPhones in our company with this tool and provide them with profiles.

In the ipcu.log I found this:

[2012-09-18 09:37:53.8906 iPCU] Debug: Loading Apple Application Support from 'C:\Programme\Gemeinsame Dateien\Apple\Apple Application Support\'

[2012-09-18 09:37:53.8906 iPCU] Debug: Loading Apple Mobile Device Support from 'C:\Programme\Gemeinsame Dateien\Apple\Mobile Device Support\'

On another computer with iTunes 10.6x, also Windows XP, we have no problems and the config utility is starting.

The config utility we use is the newest one (3.5).

Can anyone help?

What is Apple doing to fix this? Any official respone from apple?

Thank you.

Same problem in the Netherlands.

Since updating tot 10.7 my computer (windows, vista, 64) doesn't recognise the Iphone anymore. It's not even loading my battery.

Itunes doesn't notice the Iphone.

Tried reinstalling Itunes, reinstalling Mobile Device Support, none of this works.

Considering restaring my computer to a backup point somewhere last week, where i still had a previous version of Itunes..will that do the trick?

I just had the same problem with a Mac on OS 10.8.1: The iTunes 10.7 installation ended wih an error message, but iTunes starts normally and shows that it is 10.7. But my iPad is not recognized and the battery is not charged. Then I rebooted the Mac into Safe Mode (hold the shift key while booting). There iTunes recognized the iPad again and it also worked after rebooting normally.

I had this exact problem as well. I use the WiFi sync though. My iPhone did not show in the iTunes list on my Apple Mac. However, I was able to initiate sync from my iPhone the other day. Today, I decided to try powering off my phone and then back on. That worked. I can now sync over WiFi initiated from my Mac.

I have a MacBook Pro running the latest version of Mountain Lion and 10.7 iTunes and my iPhone 4 is running the latest v5 iOS.

Come on Apple you have to fix this!

I am so ****** off since I cannot use the iCPU to deploy my user's iphones at work.

I heavily rely on this utility to loads apps and profiles.

These are my errors:

[2012-09-20 17:38:12.7572 iPCU] Debug: Loading Apple Application Support from 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support\'

[2012-09-20 17:38:12.7572 iPCU] Debug: Loading Apple Mobile Device Support from 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\'

[2012-09-20 17:38:12.8042 iPCU] Error: Exception from OnStartupInitial: A procedure imported by 'ManagedMobileDevice, Version=3.5.0.289, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' could not be loaded.

The utility will not launch! Is there a beta 3.6 icpu anywhere?

I cannot spend the whole day uninstalling/re-installing everything!

Apple you are just as bad as MS!

FS> I cannot spend the whole day uninstalling/re-installing everything!

I have the same problem with Win 7 64bit Ultimate with iPhone 4S and iPad.

I have spent two days with this issue and got no help with googling nor reinstalling everything several time. Must be something wrong with iTunes 10.7. Did anyone succeed to install it and get it working?

Additionally iTunes when starting, is telling that I have a problem with my CD/DVD-drive which can not be used due some issue maybe with another DVD burning application.

I updated iTunes (10.7) and now iPhone Configuration Utility will not run.
