Do i need Administrator privileges to Monitor files in Mac using FSEvents

I'm trying to get the File System Event notifications in Mac for my Application. When i was googling about FSEvents, noticed Dropbox is also using FSEvents and it's asking for administrator privileges to run "dbfseventsd" process. Do i also need to have Administrator privileges for my Application to monitor changes in a Directory ..? I am planning to support OS X 10.5 to latest 10.8.1.

Mac mini, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8)

I got it figured it out finally. Even to use FSEvents API i would need Administrator priviliges to recieve all notifications according to Apple Documentation. And reading from /dev/fsevents definitely require administrator priviliges.
