my 16gb 2 ipad does not have micro sim slot. How do I connect to internet?

Connect with WiFi if you do not have 3G/4G.

If it's a wifi-only iPad or a US Verizon iPad (which is CDMA based and doesn't use sim cards) then it won't have a sim slot. Do you have your own wifi network ? If so then you should be able to connect the iPad to the internet through that (Settings > Wi-Fi to turn wifi 'on').

Just a note that the new iPad (3rd gen) US Verizon/CDMA does indeed have a SIM slot with a Verizon SIM card contained within. The iPad 2 may not have a SIM card slot but I can verify that the 3rd gen does.

I meant to include the 2 after the 'iPad' but I obviously didn't

if you have an iphone, you can turn "personal hot spot" on the iphone under settings, and connect your ipad wirelessly to your iphone and use your iphones internet

If your iPhone is a 3 and not a 3GS personal hotspot is not supported. See Understanding personal hotspot.
