iPhone 5 AT&T preorder status thread

i would have ordered from att afterwards but i didnt want to order from them unless i could cancell my order with apple. by the time i was able to try to cancell from apple it was too late

I ordered my white 16gb iPhone 5 at around 7 am central time from AT&T and the e-mail showed:

Great news – your new iPhone will ship soon!

What happens next:

• Your order will arrive on 9/21/12
• We’ll send a confirmation email when it’s ready

They say my card won't be charged until it ships but the money came out of my account right away. Is this normal, do they take it out to make sure you have the funds, then put it back until the phone ships?

I just checked my order status and now the CANCEL ORDER button is gone, but it still shows as pending, so maybe it'll process soon. Still no second email from AT&T.

i doubt i get a second email before next friday

My order info says this: "Your order contains items that are not yet available for shipping. When the preordered items are available, we'll process and then ship all items in your order at the same time." From the sounds of that it appears it's on back order. Unless this message is standard to everyone?

Nah, mine said the same thing. When I got to work over two hours after I ordered at 7:45am CDT I went to AT&T's site and tried to order one as a new customer and it said your order will arrive by Sept 21, so sometime after that is when it went to the 2-3 weeks message.

I used my bank card and they took the money from my account right away when I pre ordered this morning and is still gone. My account shows 3 different transactions 2 show $0 was taken out and the 3rd shows $214.24 was taken out.

i paid 399 for the 64gb phone

I placed my order through ATT on a whim at 7:30 a.m. (EST) I also received an email from Premier stating that the iPhone has been reserved and should arrive as soon as 9/21. I received an Order No. Earlier this morning when I checked the order status it also said, "pending." There was also a button to cancel the pre-order. After checking this afternoon that button is now gone. My credit card has not been charged yet. A friend of mine who ordered throught ATT at 3:00 a.m. received a text from ATT early this afternoon "congratulating" him on his order processing. He ordered one for a friend later in the day and was given the 09/28 date.
