iPhone 5 AT&T preorder status thread

My order status shows exactly the same info

You'll know by tomorrow you should be shipped status. If it does not ship tomorrow you won't get it Friday. I am in the same boat! Lets hope!

I preordered mine on 9/14 @ 12:14AM PAC from apple and my order status still shows prepairing for shipment. Looks like I was about 14 min late.

You mean 914 you should be ok, then you should ship tomorrow.

Yes, i have got similar e-mail today at 3.41 PM EST. I ordered 16gb white on 9/14 9.49 am EST (premier personal account). Original email on 9/14 has said i would getting it on 9/21 but today's e-mail says 14 to 21.

My order used to show up as back-ordered till y'day and today back-ordered is 0. Not sure what these idiots at AT&T are doing. If they cant track why should they tell it will arrive by 9/21.

I will never pre-order from ATT again...just terrible web site/service.

These are all sitting in a warehouse and when they shipp each order that's when you get a tracking number right now there's a whole bunch of phones just sitting in one spot being allocated per order. If you don't get an email and a tracking number tomorrow, you are not getting the phone or phones Friday. Tomorrow is the day everyone will know!

I would suggest that people call their banks and determine the TRUE status on the charge. I can tell you that my "pending" charges have dropped off the web site, but the bank still has them as authorized and will approve the payment when it truly posts.

So, to sum things up for everyone :

1. Verify your bank charges directly with your bank if you are worried.

2. Check the order status page and look for the Backorder being set to 0 to determine if you are moving towards the shipping status (in the past this didn't always work out as they went to 0 and if the orders got filled before yours, it went back to 1)

3. AT&T is definitely shipping to have items delivered on Friday, so no worries about the e-mails that said "as soon as Sept 21, 2012" as they seem to just be covering themselves for those that missed the first batch.

4. Cut-off times were just a guess at when enough orders came in to deplete the 1st batch.

5. AT&T staff is using party lines as they cannot predict actual shipping dates.

6. Wait for a tracking number...

And more importantly, remember that pre-orders are always taking a chance much like sitting in line. So, don't be upset if it doesn't work out. And also understand that having products for the stores is just as important than just filling all the online orders. Apple wants a buzz around the stores - marketing 101. Deal with it 🙂

you, know, that makes sense. I was told it was going off of pacific time, so when I went to order on apple.com a little early I thought they were just getting it ready for preorders... but by that time it was probably already crashed...

My confirmation still said delivers on 9/21 so I"m still hoping, but thanks for clearing that up.

I guess I won't be Too dissapointed when it doesn't show.
