I asked this question in CSR APT-X Twitter and sadly the answer is NO.

For me it was also very important as I was planning on using it with a Sennheiser MM 500X headphone, it is really a shame.....

I've seen so many competitive devices supporting apt-x, such as all the newer Samsung phones and tablets.

Given the fact that there're so many sound systems out there that allow for an "old" 30pin dock connector, Apple SHOULD give us the ability to reuse these (often expensive) docks - such as Bose's - with hi-quality audio btooth adaptors.

The Auris (apt-x compliant, BT4) could be excellent for the iPhone5, but... it could actually sound perfect only with a Samsung Galaxy...

LET'S ALL TOGETHER SAY APPLE TO IMPLEMENT APT-X in the NEXT IOS UPGRADE!!! (it's a software codec, it CAN be done, paying a little royalty to CSR! or give us the choice to buy it)

Apple seems to be going the way of Microsoft and looking at us users as economic data points and not clients. Their devices are expensive and many of us are really into music and want the best listening experience possible and we shouldn't have to buy even more things to plug into a device that has this price point. The iPhone should be associated with the best music listening expereince possible and if we can see people moving from iPhone to HTC then apple has lost the plot.

Well i had a decent time with the BTD300 audio but now my GF wanted one I tried to buy one! Now the only thing that is available is the same type of device but now its like a little flying saucer! http://www.custom-cable.co.uk/avantree-saturn-aptx-bluetooth-wireless-stereo-tra nsmitter.html It's a shame we can no longer get the BTD300 Audio as that was perfect. Guess i'll have to wait and see what the Saturn is like.

The iPhone shouldn't support AptX for the Music app since audio on the device is already compressed with AAC or MP3. The Bluetooth receiver should support MP3 / AAC streaming instead. AptX should only be used for streaming "generated" audio like from a kernel mixer of a PC (the MacBook Pro supports AptX). If they add AptX, it should only be used for games.

I am sorry to say that apt-x codec is not supported by all iOS devices now and cannot see any evidence that will be included with incoming iOS product. The only way is through some third-party bluetooth transmitter or transmitter/receiver 2 in 1. Like this one: Avantree Saturn mini apt-x Bluetooth Receiver and Transmitter 2-in-1 User uploaded file

I have an iPad3 and iPhone5 and an Avantree Saturn mini apt-x Bluetooth Receiver and Transmitter 2-in-1.

If I bring the Avantree Saturn in receiving mode and make a BlueTooth link with the iPhone5 or iPad3 the blue led on the Avantree Saturn

gives two short flashes every 5 seconds. This means my iPone5 and iPad3 both support aptX because the double blue led flash indicates the aptX mode.

Also if I watch live TV through internet and listen audio through my Sennheiser MM550 which supports aptX as well I do not see any

latency so TV and audio are synchrone to me at my iPhone5 and iPad3. My iOS version is iOS8.02 on bothe Apple devices.

CONCLUSION:

iPhone5 and iPad3 with iOS8.02 support aptX over BlueTooth and the sound sounds very nice through my Sennheiser MM550 if I listen to BBC3 which streams at 320kbps AAC.
