I asked this question in CSR APT-X Twitter and sadly the answer is NO.

For me it was also very important as I was planning on using it with a Sennheiser MM 500X headphone, it is really a shame.....

I have an iPad2, iPad3, iPhone4 and iPhone5 and an Avantree Saturn mini apt-x Bluetooth Receiver and Transmitter 2-in-1.

If I bring the Avantree Saturn in receiving mode and make a BlueTooth link with all 4 Apple devices the blue led on the Avantree Saturn

gives two short flashes every 5 seconds. This means all 4 Apple devices support aptX because the double blue led flash indicates the aptX mode.

Also if I watch live TV through internet and listen audio through my Sennheiser MM550 headphone which supports aptX as well I do not see any

latency so TV and audio are synchrone to me at all 4 Apple devices. My iOS version is iOS8.02 on three Apple devices And iOS 7.1.2 for the iPhone4.

CONCLUSION:

iPhone5, iPad2 and iPad3 with iOS8.02 and my iPhone4 with iOS7.1.2 support aptX over BlueTooth and the sound sounds very nice through my Sennheiser MM550 headphone if I listen to BBC3 which streams at 320kbps AAC.

Sorry guys, even CSR who owns the APTX codec confirms that IOS8 has no APT-X support. At this point I am even doubting that the latest iPhones have the required hardware for it on-board. Please note that for APT-X to function, you need both OS and hardware support. And yes, theoretically AAC should be at approximately the same quality level as APT-X, but so far my preference has always been APT-X
