Problem updating itunes to 10.7

Mmm... it gets worse. At about the fifth attempt it appeared to install okay but when I restarted my PC I got the error message

"iTunes was not properly installed. If you want to import or burn CDs you need to reinstall iTunes."

Running diagnostics suggests there's something wrong with the CD Drive connectivity although it seems to be working okay.

I tried to restore to a previous version, but that seems to have thrown up other error messages.

Guess I'll have to reinstall. What a pain.

I'm having almost same problem:

I'm dowloading 10.7 from the iTunes site (for my Vista 64 bit computer).

Have tried uninstalling the old iTunes, closing all other programs including firewall and anti-virus.

Then installing the new 10.7. Install runs for quite a while, then without any message, my computer reboots by itself, without closing down properly.

Upon rebooting, the computer will not recognize my DVD drives or USB drives, and is a mess.

Only way to clean up my computer has been to do a system restore to before the iTunes 10.7 installation, which has worked fine.

But I have no idea how to do a clean iTunes installation from here.

I am having the same issue. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling and I am still unable to access my itunes. I wish I did not even bother updating! I am lost. I hope Apple can fix the issue ASAP!! If anyone has any suggestions of advice please let me know...

I'm having the same problem too. That's what I get for updating it.

I'm having this same issue as well, my iphone will not work on my itunes because it needs updating so i go to update it makes it almost all the way through then i get a message about something missing and to contact personnel or a vendor package. Not sure what either are any help or sugg. would be nice. I would love to actually hook my iphone to my computer for the first time but i can't, this problem has been going on for over a month now. my ipod touch works just fine on it but my iphone is incompatable with the old itunes yet the new one won't instal.

I too is having problem updating. my current version is a bit old 5.1.1. The update suggest and will only update to the current 10.7, after the download it will install and at halfway throught the intall I will get an erro message. I also tried the suggested "download only" then manually install. That also didn't work and will get error message saying cannot verifie key. I've also uninstall and reinstall with the same result.

Similar problem for me. My computer doesn't seem to even initiate a download for iTunes 10.7, and I can't use the iPhone5 with my current iTunes 10.6.1... Hope this gets resolved shortly! Thanks.

i am also having issues installing but i get the apple software update error.

"ERRORS OCCURED WHILE INSTALLING THE UPDATES. IF THE PROBLEM PERSISTS,CHOOSE TOOLS>DOWNLOAD ONLY AND TRY INSTALLING MANUALLY.

IF ANYONE KNOWS WHAT I CAN IT WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED SINCE I NEED THE ITUNES 10.7 TO CONNECT IT TO MY IPHONE 5.

Hey, try this , uninstall all the apple application S/w from your pc,

Reboot it

Now download a fresh itunes from apple and try installing

Reboot it

I've been trying to uninstall the all itunes software so I can install a fresh copy. But it wouldn't let me get pass the first one. I still get the same error "could not open key". aaahg!!!!!!

But it wouldn't let me get pass the first one....? this means you are unable to uninstall?
