i am really in need of an application that will let me /mark/ a series of places and retain this data so that i know where this marked place is when i travel.
for instance i am taking a trip to paris and i would really like to put my "places to see" in a map that will let me access this while browsing something like google maps.
does this exist already? is there some site in particular that would be good to ask this?

Open the Maps app, find what you want, drop a pin & bookmark the spots.

thank you. i have never really understood this app very well and have taken a look at some online tutorials.
is there a way to have the PINS show up all the time when i am walking down the street for instance? i have always found the pins to go into a "bookmarked" area - and then i am only able to get back to /see/ this pin on the map when i go and get the bookmraks to show ALL THE TIME?
also, is there a way to add these on my COMPUTER which would be much, much more convenient than adding them on my phone...?

hi. thanks i see. i have been using "Maps" and now there is an app called "Google Maps". very interesting. i see there is also an offline feature now.

i tried to add it to My Places but i am not seeing the PINS come with the map...

Not yet.
Rumor has it that when iOS 6 is released (this week) Google will release a Google Maps app similar to the current Maps app.
Apple is replacing the current app with their own map software.
Google Maps (not an app) is simply a web page and account you can create to store your places.
However, this info is not available in the current Maps app.
You can use these apps to display on your iPhone the places you set up in Google maps.

i started researching online and i have to run some more tests tonight when i get a minute.
i heard there is a "Mac Map Apps" coming with iOS6 and i looked on the Google site and i see that there are a bunch of goodies - including an ability to make a MAP always available even without internet connect but his seems only available on droid. i think this is called Google Maps and i downloaded this to my phone from the site even though a lot of the stuff only seems available on droid?
can you help me with how things stand now for me?
i have a "Maps" app on my iPhone (i think it came with it but not sure) and i now downloaded the "Google Maps" application. both show up as icons on my home screen now.
are both these google products and both do the same thing or are their differences?
also, have you tested either of the products in the links by any chance?
i am tempted to d/l iOS6 as soon as it comes out but since i am going on a trip overseas i may wait until i get back to do this...
