Sorry for the fat-fingering error, but I'm using Q '07 for Lion, not Q '97, if that was even a released version.

When Bill Campbell, (the then CEO of Intuit and the former President of Claris, the wholly owned Apple software division, and still member of the Apple Board of Directors at that time) announced that Intuit was going to stop offering updated versions of Quicken for Mac, the recently returned CEO of Apple, Steve Jobs, invited Campbell over for a private showing of the then top-secret iMac prototype and the promised increase in Mac sales that it foretold.

Campbell, sensing an opportunity, agreed with Jobs that he would update and release Quicken '98, if Jobs agreed to include a copy in the software bundle that accompanied each iMac and the rest was history! I thought this Quicken '98 was the version you were referring to.

Here is Quicken '98 running in SheepShaver on my OS X Lion Mac Mini:

Yes, Merry Christmas -

Simply stated, Intuit is not a Mac's best friend.

Having said that, there are other workable alternatives.

Information on other options is available online.

Technical spec's as well can be found.

Having the info available will help drive an effective decision.

Every Mac user should carefully weigh the pros and cons.

Any constructive suggestions on forums like these also help.

Due diligence is the best approach.

Thanks for the history lesson

Another relevant lesson that should be considered in this context:

Asperger’s syndrome is one of the autism spectrum disorders. Affected individuals display considerably impaired capacity for social interaction, unusual special interests, and a tendency towards ritualized behavior.

Increased spreadsheet use has not been shown to decrease these symptoms and in some utilizing obsessive behavior it can actually exacurbate these symptoms!

There has been no shown link between use of Quicken and any of these symptoms.

More research is warranted.

Enough already!!! This bickering has got to stop. I was still following this post to see if more information had been posted. Instead, I have my email notifications blowing up with y'all arguing!!! I am done with this post! There were still some of us that actually wanted to learn not listen to y'all fight and argue. Maybe you should start your own post and then no one else would be following and get these notifications of this ridiculous bickering!!!

"I think by now you have probably been able to receive sufficiently substantive information from which to make an educated decision. From this point on I would suspect that not much else will be forthcoming in the way of new information regarding Intuit for Mac."

I was really trying to get away from Intuit but I had to go with Quickbooks for Mac. I use QB Enterprise Solutions for my day job and not very happy with their pricing tactics. I just feel like I am held hostage sometimes. But I have tried most everything else mentioned on here (very interesting and didn't know about) and had to make a decision before the end of the year. Some of this discussion was very interesting but I will have to get off of this one now. But I am always going to see what is out there so I can one day, get away from Intuit.

Not really up on all these forums so I didn't know how to reply back to your kind post. But thank you again. I am sure there will be backlash from this post from others...but thanks!
